the wax

The Wax Song

D G A
You took me for coffee to a place down on 14th St
D G D A
And you told me all about how you thought that things should be
D G D G
Well, I’m glad you bought me coffee, and I can sorta see your point
G D A D
But that don’t mean I necessarily agree

See there’s all this stuff that happens way down deep inside an atom

Particles collide and just go nuts

If you look at one it changes instantly to something else

And I think that’s got a lot of relevance to us

D G A G
And I stole candles from your church and I took ‘em somewhere else

Found a match, set ‘em up and watched ‘em burn, burn, burn

Little flame dances on top, and the wick gets eaten up
D G A D
And the wax just melts away and makes a mess

The wick is made of fiber that the wax can cling to

The wax ain’t strong enough to hold its shape all by itself

The flame consumes the wick with every hungry lick

And the wax just leaves its puddle somewhere else

You can pinch a bit of fire inbetween your fingers

You’ve snuffed a lot of candles with that technique so far

But you had best be careful, you had best be quick

Or my old flame could leave you serious scars
