this time next week
11 August 2005, 4:44 pmI’ve recently sworn off pestering my friends about my band’s performances, ‘coz most of my friends are all with the indie rock ‘n’ such, and my band is not so much.
Next Thursday’s “Not Quite the Hyphens” show at the Kirkland Cafe is a big departure though — frontman Dave and I will each play a few songs together and separately. I’ll be wielding a six-string for the first time in public since, um, 2002 or something (and for the first time evah in the Commonwealth) and I’ll be as indie (and un-folk) as I can be with an acoustic guitar. I’ll likely be dragging out a few of those mysterious tunes that appear in the locked posts on this very journal, which will be on that record that will be finished sometime after I escape from debt. It won’t be ear-blastingly loud for a change, so you’ll be able to hear the words. Do I sound desperate yet? It would be lovely to see you. All of you.
p.s., by all means, see Spoon and Longwave at the Hatch shell first! Schedule permitting, I will too.
What time do you guys hit the stage? I am planning on going, but I have some packing to do first…
I think we’re on at 10 (probably getting there around 9). And I’ll be giving Spoon and Longwave a miss, unfortunately … too much to do between now and then.
