inverse podcast dream

15 January 2006, 1:46 pm

Had a dream in which someone forwarded me a link to a music blog that had singled out The Hyphens as a “the most promising new band since I don’t know when” or words to that effect. I was kinda psyched until I was asked if I’d listened to the podcast that accompanied the blog. “No,” I said, “I never listen to podcasts.”

Turned out the blog’s schtick is that the posted text is the exact opposite of the blogger’s real opinion, which he expresses at vituperative length in the podcast. So, basically, he was saying we were the worst band in the entire history of the universe.

(This is possibly in part a reaction to seeing Hilken Mancini’s new (bass-less) trio at the Lizard last night and being more than a little tempted to beg to be allowed to audition to play for them. Fiercer and more math-rocky than Fuzzy, but less skronky and twitchy than the Count Me Outs. Great stuff.)

You know, I think they really did suffer from the basslessness– you should totally try to arrange it.
