Hypothesis: If Francona had let Foulke close on Saturday, he might have come in to today’s game with the confidence to rock the 8th like he did over the weekend. Discuss. (Or not.)
I suspect that Francona wants to reinstate Foulke as the closer when he’s absolutely sure that he won’t have to keep flip-flopping him in and out of that role. Just a hunch. And Papelbon has been awfully good. Things have gone well, so it’s hard to argue too much.
That salsa is damn tasty.
