a good link

I’ve whined in the past about long, obscure link addresses, so I was delighted to see a best-in-breed URL for an article at Tufts Daily.

I prefer to use non-graphical email clients, so if you email me a link, I often see something kinda like this:

Screen capture of readable url in text-only email program

It’s a little hard to read in the screen capture, but the headline text from the article, “Popular Local Eatery Burns Down, Vows to Return Soon,” is in the link itself — so I can quickly and easily make a decision as to whether I need to cut and paste it into a browser, or whether I’ve already learned what I need to know. Excellent.

(The site also earns kudos for not setting a ton of cookies just to pull up the home page, too — way to go.)

P.S.: Get better soon, Urban Gourmet! We miss you.
