tag, i’m it.
23 January 2007, 7:07 amvia The Shy Turnip:
Each player of this game starts with “6 weird things about you”. Each person who gets tagged needs to write a blog post of their own 6 weird things as well as clearly state this rule. After you state your 6 weird things, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says “you’re tagged” in their comments and tell them to read your blog for information as to what it means.
6 weird things, huh? The problem really is narrowing it down.
- I more-or-less wasn’t allowed to watch TV until I bought one when I turned 17. This left huge gaps in my cultural literacy, and led to strange misconceptions. F’rinstance, I saw Gilligan’s Island about three times, and they were all episodes with nightmare dream sequences, so I thought it was a scary show.
- I didn’t learn to ride a bike until I was in my 20s
- I worry that I wear earplugs too much in situations where it’s not totally socially appropriate (or anyway, expected) to do so.
- Chocolate (especially milk chocolate) is an I-can-take-it-or-leave it food for me.
- The first piece of fiction I sent to a magazine was published (as part of a contest, when I was 12).
- I worked in the same office building as one of my band members for months before either of us realized it.

(And bonus weird thing: It often takes me 2 or 3 tries to get a captcha I can solve.)
Funny… Though (or maybe because) my parents owned a candy store when I was a kid, I am not exactly a chocolate fanatic. Maybe you’ve figured this out from the different times you and I have gone for the non-chocolate dessert options. I especially don’t like chocolate ice cream. That said, I’ll take a little block of really good milk chocolate now and then.
That’s very cool about your fiction being published–not that I’m terribly surprised!!
Terri: your folks owned a candy store? Your folks owned a candy store? Oh. Oh.
(I do like chocolate. Yes indeed.)
Doug: I think the captcha thing speaks more to what’s weird about captchas than what’s weird about you. But the six are cool weird things. Do you think it’s weird that you worry about wearing earplugs, or that you wear earplugs? Just curious. I’ve recently discovered earplugs as a sleep aid (not a weird thing).
You know, the first one was the only one of these I didn’t know. How weird.
I meant to say the first one was the only one of these that I DID know. Time for bed.
black, black, no tag back
He’s weird city.
It’s true! From the time I was about 4 until I was about 8 or 9 my parents owned a candy store. They sold specialty coffees and such, too, so I grew up with an appreciation for all that frou frou goodness. Maybe that should have gone on my “weird” list.
I thought it was when you were younger than that, even. Didn’t they actually find you physically in a bin of jelly beans at one point?
It’s true; they had it from when you were 2 through when you were 9. (Assuming the years we had put on the brick in front of the State Theater for their fund raiser are correct).
Janet - Melissa has worn earplugs as a sleep aid for years now. They really help her, and Cocoa the kitty loves to chase after them. Now what’s a captcha?
