Ace (Wheelworks) is Aces
7 February 2007, 9:28 pmAt some point in the last year, one of the bolts on the side of my bikerack worked itself loose. This is one of those nagging little things that I often don’t get around to fixing for a while. It doesn’t affect the functionality of the bike much (although it’s been more annoying since I started riding with panniers that hook on near where the bolt isn’t, and sometimes get snagged). The bike lives in the basement and all the bolts and wrenches and such are elsewhere.
I recently took my bike in to Ace Wheelworks for a comprehensive tune up. It wasn’t cheap. I got a big list of itemized parts and labor charges.
Just the other day, I realized they’d replaced the bolt on the bikerack. They didn’t charge me for it; they just saw a little thing that needed fixing, and fixed it. Their outlay was a part that cost maybe a nickel and a few seconds of wrench-work. The payoff is that I’m so unexpectedly delighted with their customer service — a week after the fact — that I wouldn’t consider taking my bike anywhere else next time it needs repair.
Don’t just take my word for it, there’s more love at Yelp.
