dang that feels good

I got in line about 15 minutes before the polls opened, I was maybe 80th or so in line. Before they split the line by precints*, it was stretching all the way in front of the school, and around and down the block. It was my first Arlington election, but people who’d lived there a while seemed impressed.
What struck me most was the mood. Usually (when the lines are much shorter) I hear grousing about how long the lines are. There was none of that. People seemed eager, excited, charged up — a few were even pushing giddy.
I’m letting myself hope a little bit.
For my own future reference: I live in precint FOUR
The lines were longer than usual at my voting place, but, just as you observed, everyone seemed in a good mood!
Wasn’t it great? We experienced much the same, and it was a pretty day to boot. It’s nice to feel good about this sort of thing… it feels like such a long time since I did.
